The Montana Nutrition & Physical Activity Program (NAPA) In partnership with the Montana State Breastfeeding Coalition) and support from the PHHS Block Grant facilitates the MontanaBreastfeeds! Project.
This initiative provides monetary and technical support for local breastfeeding coalitions and community breastfeeding support groups to work with local photographers and families to produce life-size cut-outs of mothers/infants breastfeeding. Cut-outs highlight cultural, societal, workplace and familial spects of breastfeeding
These life-size images are placed at various local venues including libraries, banks, community fairs, hospitals, parks, hotel and small businesses to promote and normalize breastfeeding. In addition, cut-outs include information to local breastfeeding services constructing valuable links to lactation support with the aim of increasing MT breastfeeding duration rates. Currently, 8 Montana communities have produced 40 breastfeeding cut-outs being displayed across the state.
